Doubling your good helps cats like Sunrise
Sunrise came to us from another shelter and needed some help coming out of her shell. Sunrise used to live outside and was mistreated by humans in the past, so it was going to take time for her to trust humans again. Our staff immediately knew that our Behavior Modification Program would be very beneficial for her. All cats are different and need help in different areas, so we modify the program to fit their needs. With shy cats like Sunrise, we give them plenty of time to settle in and decompress. Sunrise needed her own space to be more independent. She hid A LOT at first, but every day a staff member would sit with her. Sometimes just sitting in the space with her was enough for her to become curious and sniff her new friend.
Each day she got more confident and started coming out of hiding. After a few weeks in our Behavior Modification Program, she was allowing staff to pet her. Sunrise has made amazing strides since she's been here and we are so proud of her.
